Yesterday, there was a doll’s leg
By the bus stop,
Street-stained and socket-bared.
Baby knees are so squishy.
Too large, too out of place, too awkward:
It seemed the high school bathroom pass of a teacher who amused herself.
Today there is an art piece,
On the way home,
In the short distance between the L and the bus stop.
The way it’s paper peels seems fitting,
As five banana boys smile down and wave.
They see me get on the bus,
And their eyes don’t leave me until I step off,
Onto the safety of a faraway street corner.
Tomorrow, perhaps the candy store will sing to me.
And if it does,
I may join in.
This another creative glimpse into your life. Thank you
