I made a huge discovery today, 10 hours of rain sounds on Youtube. It drowns out the sirens and the yellow glowing sky. I carry the rain into the kitchen and make pizza dough feeling ridiculously happy.
I’m conscious of the fact that the markers for a strange new world are being met, the ones we saw in the Sci-Fi movies of our youth are now transpiring before our eyes.
The temperature drops 30 degrees when the fire smoke moves up 20,000 feet, blocking the sun. In one day the clouds I paint become another level of magical, puffed up with importance.
It’s night now, I close the blinds, still listening to my fake rain. I look around my studio, white clouds hovering above pale aqua seascapes, clouds in jars- raining, rumpled linen sheets, blue glass goblets, miniature succulent gardens in ornately painted pots. I can breath quite freely here.
I love your description of your studio. I too have drowned out many a bad thought with rain sounds.
Cultivating a space where one can breathe freely seems like it should be everyone’s pandemic goal.
